Levelland Academic Beginnings Center(LABC) serves approximately 500 children--grades prekindergarten and kindergarten.
The prekindergarten program serves approximately 250 children in thirteen classrooms, including one Preschool Program for Children with Disabilities (PPCD) and one English as a Second Language (ESL) classroom. The four-year old program has open enrollment--any child who is four by September 1st may attend.
Kindergarten enrollment equals almost 250--also including an ESL classroom.
In addition to the 27 classroom teachers, the faculty includes the principal, assistant principal, counselor, school nurse, music teacher, physical education teacher, library assistant, two secretaries, an office assistant and 23 teaching assistants. LABC also teaches a Life Skills class for students with severe and profound disabilities.
Levelland Academic Beginnings Center includes six learning pods, a prekindergarten wing with three learning pods and a kindergarten wing with three learning pods. Within each learning pod there are four self-contained learning environments. Each self-contained learning environment has a carpeted area for general teaching and reading activities, a computer area for technology instruction, a multipurpose area for projects where hard-surface flooring may be required, and a fully equipped kitchen. Each wing is adjoined to a centralized core area consisting of a 1,600-square foot indoor recreation center, a media center, cafeteria (seating 204), administration area, outdoor play space and support areas.
